Chillin’ in my Chullo!

I have to say, I am SO proud of this design 🙂  My 13 yr old son, Ryan, wanted me to design a chullo for him.  So, I had him choose his favorite Fair Isle patterns and his favorite colors from my yarn stash and  Altiplano  is what we came up with.  We got lucky and Twist Collective included the pattern in their amazing FALL 2015 Magazine.

Altiplano – Dark Colorway
Light Colorway

Named for the Andean plateau where the chullo originated, Altiplano is worked in the traditional 2-strand Fair Isle method.  A total of 5 colors gives the hat a cheerful, designer appeal.  Two different colorways of Classic Elite Inca Alpaca are suggested to give you a choice between light and dark backgrounds.  Worsted weight yarn makes this hat fast & fun.

Fair Isle Earflap Hat & Cowl

Knit Picks has just published their 2015 Fair Isle Collection and I’m so happy (& lucky) to be part of it!  My contribution is Fair Isle Earflap Hat & Cowl.

The collection has 13 Fair Isle (stranded) patterns including 6 stunning sweaters, 3 colorful hat sets, 3 fun pillows and even a set of sachets!  The collection is available in printed soft cover, as a downloadable eBook, or each pattern individually, all through the Knit Picks website.

I have found a new love in stranding.  Because you never use more than 2 different colors on any one row, it’s easier than it looks.  It keeps you wanting to knit just one more row.

Two different color charts are included with Fair Isle Earflap Hat & Cowl for variety.  Worked in worsted weight yarn, they knit up quickly.
