I am a knitwear designer & mom to 2 boys I am crazy about. I love the whole process of dreaming up an idea, perusing through stitch dictionaries, wrestling with swatches and finally, the relaxing part -- the knitting of the thing. Bringing an idea to fruition makes me smile. It's a sometimes overly-engrossing process that keeps me clicking and generally lifts my spirits.
‘Tis the Season!! Make a special someone an heirloom Christmas Stocking they’ll love for years to come! Turtledove Stocking is the latest in my series of stranded Christmas stockings, now available as a PDF pattern download or a complete kit including 100% Peruvian wool. Decorated with various Christmas motifs, a pair of cooing Turtledoves top off the merry design.
The stocking measures 7” wide X 19” long/17.5cm X 48cm. Worked in the traditional 2 strand, Fair Isle method, never more than 2 colors are used per round. A total of 8 colors gives the stocking a unique, designer look and is color coordinated with my other 2 stocking patterns, Tannenbaum & Snowdance. Worked in the round from the bottom up, this pattern is fun and rewarding. Icord edging & loop finish the top and afterthought heel and toe are worked last.
Purchase the COMPLETE STOCKING KIT through my Etsy shop Daydreamer Knits, or buy just the pattern as a downloadable PDF through Ravelry.
Each kit includes a 8 color chart, uppercase & lowercase letter charts, step by step instructions and enough 100% Peruvian worsted wool yarn in each of the 8 colors required to complete your selected stocking. Your kit will be shipped within 2 business days of payment receipt, as well as a confirmation notice to your email address.
If you choose the pattern only, it includes the charts and instructions for your chosen stocking, excluding the yarn. It is available for immediate download upon payment receipt.

I have to say, I am SO proud of this design 🙂 My 13 yr old son, Ryan, wanted me to design a chullo for him. So, I had him choose his favorite Fair Isle patterns and his favorite colors from my yarn stash and Altiplano is what we came up with. We got lucky and Twist Collective included the pattern in their amazing FALL 2015 Magazine.
Named for the Andean plateau where the chullo originated, Altiplano is worked in the traditional 2-strand Fair Isle method. A total of 5 colors gives the hat a cheerful, designer appeal. Two different colorways of Classic Elite Inca Alpaca are suggested to give you a choice between light and dark backgrounds. Worsted weight yarn makes this hat fast & fun.

Using the traditional 2 strand method and seven gorgeous colors of Knit Picks Pallete Fingering yarn, this hat will perk up any winter wardrobe.
Mitts, cowls, socks, scarves, shawls, hats, wraps, a shrug, a poncho and a capelet ….. this collection literally has you covered! Available in printed soft cover, as a downloadable eBook, or each pattern individually, all through the Knit Picks website.
Post your project in Ravelry and show off your work!
The collection has 13 Fair Isle (stranded) patterns including 6 stunning sweaters, 3 colorful hat sets, 3 fun pillows and even a set of sachets! The collection is available in printed soft cover, as a downloadable eBook, or each pattern individually, all through the Knit Picks website.
I have found a new love in stranding. Because you never use more than 2 different colors on any one row, it’s easier than it looks. It keeps you wanting to knit just one more row.
Two different color charts are included with Fair Isle Earflap Hat & Cowl for variety. Worked in worsted weight yarn, they knit up quickly.
And it looks good on fellas, too! (Thanks, Honey 🙂 )
