Ripple Tank

Pattern $5.99

Knitscene Summer 2018  has hit the stands and is full of cute, sassy style which will make you want to knit even while it’s hot!  My design, Ripple Tank, is on the cover — wheee! –and I love how the model knotted the front panel.  Adorable!

Size 9 needles and double yarn over lace make this a snap to knit in no time! Knit Picks Paragon Sport in Kenai was used for this sample in size 34″.  It’s a luxurious blend of fine merino, baby alpaca and silk with a cool feel and lovey sheen.

This top is knit from the bottom up in 2 panels and then seamed.  Eye-catching design features include dropped armholes, side vents and a longer back hem.  Slipped stitches cleanly finish the straps.  Side panels are ribbed for a flattering fit.

Post your Ripple Tank to the project page here in Ravelry.  Let’s zoom into summertime together!!

Ashwood Hoodie

Love of Knitting Fall 2017 has just come out & guess what’s on the cover?? My cardigan, Ashwood Hoodie!!! If you look very, very close …. nope, closer than that….. you can see my name right there on the cover. Woo-Hoo!! (Happy dance 🙂 )

_Cover LOK Fall 2017

So, it’s time to break out your needles and get cracking on fall knitting.  Knit Picks City Tweed DK in Desert Sage was used for this sample in size 36″.  It’s a lovely soft wool, alpaca & tweed blend which offers the added spark of tweed while maintaining excellent stitch definition.

Usually my designs are more complicated. But the simplicity of this sweater actually made it a relaxing treat. A running leaf framed in a cabled diamond runs up the front, over the hood and up each sleeve of this sweater. Slipped stitches run along each side of the leaf. The remainder of the sweater is worked in reverse stockinette stitch for textural contrast.

A 4” vent at the hips offers a flattering fit. The slipped stitch and garter stitch placket prevents the front placket from waffling.

The sleeve runs up into a saddle shoulder — an attractive design feature which is easier than it looks. The hood (I just love hoods!) is picked up around the neckline and grafted or seamed shut.

Add your Ashwood Hoodie to the project page here in Ravelry. I’d love to see your work!!

No Place Like Home

Pattern $4.99

No Place Like Home is the perfect title for this collection of patterns by Knit Picks.  15 patterns of pillows, throws, rugs and more, to give your home that cozy, cabin-y feel.  I love the idea of decorating with things you made with your own two hands.  Just in time for Christmas gift knitting, too!

My Crooked Creek Pillow –(on the cover…YAY!!) —  is a stranded pillow blending six gorgeous colors of Wool of the Andes yarn.  But don’t be intimidated — only 2 colors are used on any one round.  This makes it much easier to knit than it looks.  With 100 colors of WOTA to choose from, you can create a designer pillow that blends perfectly with your decor.  Or, if you want exactly the colors in the sample, Knit Picks lists the amounts needed of each on the order page.

You can order the No Place Like Home Collection as a softcover book, a downloadable eBook or, if you prefer, you can order Crooked Creek Pillow separately in downloadable pdf format.

Please join me and post your project in Ravelry.  I’d love to see your work!.   And if you need help, you can always contact me at info@daydreamerknits.com.

Aurelia Stole

Pattern $4.99

Knit Picks  has produced yet another gorgeous collection of lovely knits!  Joyful Lace has 13 beautiful lace pieces including shawls, stoles and wraps.  Aurelia stole is my contribution and I had such fun designing it.

(Is this model a Radiant Beauty, or what?!!)

Aurelia

Aurelia is knitted flat and has a constant stitch count, which means it is a good project if you are new to lace knitting.  The leaf patterns are designed to alternate between flowing up and flowing down, so there is no upside-down to the piece as you wear it.  The lace edging is knitted on at the last, making this a seamless project.  Knit Picks Shadow Lace Yarn was used for this sample and it is heavenly to work with.  Soft and heathered, the delicate blend of colors is delightful.  Opal Heather was used which is actually a pale, dusty blue with subtle flecks of purple.

Rhiannon — A Classic Aran Sweater

Rhiannon, Celtic for “Divine Queen”, is a cable-lover’s dream.  Emblazoned with diamonds for her majesty, this pullover is fit for a queen and for you!  Part of Knit Picks’ latest stunning collection, Celtic Journey, Rhiannon is one of 8 cabled creations.

The cable panel features a dominant repeating diamond, each embedded with a Celtic braid.  Supporting cables include 4st twists flanked by seed st ladders, smaller diamonds with centered wrapped sts (easier than bobbles), bordered on the outer edges by a 2st twist.  Various sizes are achieved by repeating the supporting cables and widening side sections proportionately.

Worked from the bottom up, vents at the sides and positive ease provide a flattering fit for all sizes.  I chose a modest V-neck collar for it’s comfort and versatility; a top underneath can change the look entirely.  Worked in Knit Picks Swish DK in Lost Lake Heather, this sweater is as comfortable to wear, as it is fun to knit :).
